The Art of Circuit Design

The Headway HE1 Series Preamplifiers are designed to perform beyond a cold replication of the pickup signal by generating a controlled amount of flattering, even harmonics, perceived as top end sparkle similar to adding an aural exciter or a warmed up valve stage.

HE1 Series pre-amps, such as the G2.C (Acoustic Guitar with on-board controls), feature tight tolerance audio components for maximum life, solder resist glass fibre PCB's, conformal coated against corrosion and moisture, in earthed metal boxes, padded against vibration. Each system is individually tested on a real instrument rig, carrying test initials and serial number. A "slow power-on" circuit reduces potentially destructive plugging-in noise.

Headway tone circuits use interactive "Baxandall" designs for a more natural and musical response than graphic EQ. Unlike pseudo passive alternatives, Headway's unique all discrete component tone section offers up to 15dB of active cut and boost, centre detents, plus shelving on treble controls, equivalent to studio quality mixers. All tone and low body noise roll off parameters match each specified instrument. Headway's rotary controls offer smoother, quieter operation and longer life than sliders. Supplied with British low-profile, soft-touch knobs, in black.

Instrument-specific fixed midrange cut (similar to the popular "smile"-shaped graphic EQ) and steeper body noise cut. Supplied bolted to a quality, end-pin jack socket with quick-change facility.

Model NYL NYLON STRINGED OPTION / NO CONTROLS (HE1/G2.NYL)

Based on the FEQ, but flat response across guitar range. Suits classical, flamenco and some steel-string fingerstyle player preferences for a more prominent midrange.
FEQ and NYL: An easy plug-and-go means to a great sound, with minimal instrument impact.
All the quality of the "C" at a lower cost.

G2.X Belt Unit (e.g. HE1/G2.X Full system)

This version of the Model C pre-amp mounts on your belt. Robust and lightweight, the Model X unit enables instant access to controls and battery with minimum instrument impact, plus multiple instrument use. It features a control panel and full-length, blued steel belt clip. Supplied with custom, high screen jack lead, plus HE1 pickup connected to e.p. jack.
